Day 1: Colombo - Bentota

Start Point Colombo / Bandaranayake International Airport or Negombo, Colombo, Sri Lanka. You will be taken to the hotel you are staying at in Colombo by your chauffeur guide and then transferred to Bentota. After arriving at the hotel, enjoy your day relaxing and enjoying the hotel's amenities. Overnight at an accommodation in Bentota.

Day 2: Bentota - Galle - Mirissa

Visit Galle and enjoy beautiful waters and beaches. Galle Fort - The Galle Fort, or Dutch Fort as it's often referred to, is a fortification built in the 16th century by the Portuguese on the Southwestern coast of Sri Lanka. The first fortifications that were constructed in the sixteenth century were basic. According to a report by UNESCO, this site has been proclaimed a World Heritage Site for its unique urban ensemble that illustrates the interplay between European architectural styles and South Asian traditions from the 16th through the 19th centuries. This is the fourth criterion for being recognized as a World Heritage Site.

Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct - located inside Galle, Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct, as its name suggests- is a mall set in a stunningly restored colonial structure built during the Dutch occupation. It constantly expands its variety of restaurants to eat, drink, and shop. The views of the bay are stunning from the upper balcony.

Galle Fort Lighthouse: The Galle lighthouse is within the famous Galle Fort. It was built seven meters above the ramparts on the road. It is Sri Lanka's earliest light station, dating back to 1848. However, the first lighthouse was destroyed by a fire in 1934. It was rebuilt at its current height of 26m. The lighthouse is located inside its walls within the old Galle Fort, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also a trendy tourist destination, making it the most visited lighthouse. Stay the night in an accommodation in Mirissa.

Day 3 Mirissa whale watching

You'll travel towards Mirissa via Galle.

Mirissa - a dazzling sickle sea shore. Guesthouses that aren't ostentatious abound, and several basic eateries are in the back of the sandy beach. Since late Mirissa, hosts have gained fame as a social gathering target for young travelers, and during peak season, DJs spin tunes until the late hours of a few nights every week.

Day 4: Mirissa - Tissamaharamaya - Yala - Tissamaharamaya

Tissa Dagoba: The white stupa has a diameter of 65m and measures 55.8m high. It's believed to contain the sacred tooth and the forehead bone relic. It is attractively illuminated at night.

Tissa Wewa: The centerpiece of the town and its environs is the beautiful Tissa Wewa. a vast artificial lake. At night, you can observe the large egret flocks that climb up the lake's trees to rest for the night. The road along the southern shoreline includes a large Lakeside Walkway for strolling.

 

Yatala Wehera Lotus ponds surround the site, with the entirety of elephants' specifics in its carvings. It was constructed two centuries ago by King Mahanaga in remembrance of the birth of his child Yatala Tissa and also for his escape from a murder attempt in Anuradhapura.

 

Yala Explore Yala, Sri Lanka's largest and most renowned national park. It covers 1268 square kilometers of forest, light scrub grassy plains, and brackish lagoons. It's abundant in wildlife, and you'll likely see buffaloes, elephants, crocodiles, and monkeys. Return to Tissamaharamaya to spend the night in a hotel.

Day 5: Tissamaharamaya - Ella

Nine Arch Bridge: The Nine Arch Bridge in Ella is situated on the Demodara loop, which extends for 91m at 24m in height. The gorgeous nine arches create an extremely picturesque location, mainly within a thick jungle and a rural environment. In the distance, there is a thriving forest, and tea plants are grown beneath them.

Ravana's Cave The Ravana Cave is approximately 2km from Ella town and about 11 km (7 miles) far from Bandarawela. It's quite a small cave measuring 50 feet wide, 150 feet long, and 60 feet high. King Ravana used the cave to protect Princess Sita.

Ella Rock If you like living green and the outdoors, then Ella is a spot to go. Ella Rock is one of the places that proves this. The place is a dream for trekkers. It is exhausting to complete the hike. It's certainly worth it. Once you have reached the top, you'll understand why we stated that. Day 6: Ella

Day 7: Ella - Kandy (Train)

The Ella to Kandy train journey in Sri Lanka is considered one of the most picturesque train rides globally. The first train system located in Sri Lanka was introduced in 1864 by the British Colonial government to bring tea out of the mountains to Colombo. Still, today, the train is a very cost-effective way to experience the stunning landscape of Sri Lanka.

Your driver will drop you off at Ella railway station. He will meet you at Kandy train station. Overnight at the hotel in Kandy. 

Day 8: Kandy - Sigiriya

The golden-robed Temple of the Sacred Tooth is home to Sri Lanka's most significant Buddhist Relic - a tooth belonging to the Buddha. When it is time for puja(offerings and prayers), the well-guarded area that houses the tooth is accessible to tourists and devotees. However, you won't view the tooth. It's housed in a golden casket with the shape of a dagoba (stupa) that comprises a collection of dagoba caskets of decreasing size. This complex contains several smaller shrines, temples, museums, and the revered principal temple. Kandy View Point is a climb up the hill overlooking Kandy Lake to attain Kandy's viewpoint and get an incredible panorama across the city, which can't be beaten. It is a well-known tourist destination that attracts numerous vendors, but they typically offer shoddy goods. It is also known for a high rate of pickpocketing, and you should ensure you are vigilant with your valuables from the top of the hill, where you can take in stunning views of the lake and the entire city.

 

Kandy Lake sometimes referred to as Kiri Muhuda or The Sea of Milk, is an artificial lake located in the middle of the hill town of Kandy, Sri Lanka, built-in 1807 by the king Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe, next to the Temple of the Tooth. Over time, the lake diminished in dimensions. It is now a protected lake, and fishing is prohibited. There are numerous myths and legends about the lake. One is that the king's helm utilized the tiny island in the middle to bathe in the lake. It was also connected to his palace via a hidden tunnel.

Cultural Dance Show Kandyan moves are among the most memorable events during your stay in Kandy. As a tradition, Kandyan's move is somewhat of a misunderstanding as these shows are specifically designed to entertain the crowd and include dress codes and costumes from all over the world and have the well-known "fallen angel" moves from the West Coast (which are challenging to locate in their native district). Day 9: Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa - Sigiriya

Gal Vihara: Gal Vihara (Sinhala Stone Temple), a Buddhist Temple at (UNESCO World Heritage Site) located in Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka, is the most exquisite example of a Buddha statue made of solid stone. It was crafted during the time of King Parakrabahu (1153-1186 A.C); Gal Vihara statues are preserved in their entirety with their captivating appeal and unsurpassed beauty. The sculptors at Gal Vihara were of more extraordinary ability and knowledge with the technique of sculpting stone in Sri Lanka. The artworks of Gal Vihara have brought about greater awareness among viewers about Buddhist painting and the art of Sri Lanka.

 

Royal Palace: This group of structures dates back to the King, Parakramabahu II (1153 1186-1186). The King's Royal Palace is a massive structure measuring 31 m by 13 m, comprising 50 rooms supported by 30 columns. Today, it's impressive, but imagine it to be seven floors high with walls that were 3 meters thick as archaeologists claim it was once!

Lankatilaka is among the most beautiful structures in Polonnaruwa. Parakramabahu I constructed the Lankatilaka temple. Vijayabahu IV then restored it. The considerable edge (a stone Buddhist temple with a corbelled roof and thick walls) is 17m high and has a roof that has fallen off. Take a trip to Sigiriya to stay overnight at Sigiriya. 

Day 10: Sigiriya Sightseeing - Anuradhapura

Isurumuniya is a charming rock temple dating back to Devanampiya Tissa (r 307-267 BC). Go back up towards the summit of the rock to view the bell-shaped stupa, as well as two Buddha footprints that have been carved within the stone.

Jaya Shri Maha Bodhi: Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, is the oldest living tree documented in the historical records of the planet. It is a sapling of the historic Bodhi tree, which was the one under which Buddha was enlightened. This tree was planted around 288 BCF and is the most extended human-planted living tree in the world, with a confirmed date of its planting. It was brought from the Buddhagaya region of India by Ven. Sanghamitta Therini is a sister of Arhant Mahinda, who brought the teachings from The Buddha to Sri Lanka.

Wilpattu National Park Wilpattu National Park Wilpattu Sanctuary was designated a National Park in 1938. Wilpattu National Park is situated on the west of the coast, close to the town of Anuradhapura. There are about 30 mammal species in Wilpattu National Park. Wilpattu National Park includes the Sri Lankan Elephant, Sri Lankan Leopard, the Lankan sloth Bear, Sri, Spotted Deer, Buffalo, Sambar, and Mongoose. The species of birds that inhabit the Wetland at Wilpattu National Park include Garganey, Pin tail, Whistling Teal, Spoonbill, White Ibis, Large White Egret Cattle Egret, Large White Egret, as well as the Purple Heron.

Several varieties of Gulls, Terns, Owls, Kites, and Eagles are also found here. The endangered Sri Lanka Jungle Fowl, Little Cormorant, and the Painted Stork can also be observed. When you have completed your Wilpattu Safari, the group will transfer to Colombo with a sweet memory of your trip!
